Poetry: A Mother's Love by Mahanum Panjwani (Class 11)
Do you know how much you mean to me?
As you grow into what will you be?
You came from just beneath my heart.
You are growing so fast, it sends me in a whirl,
With misty eyes I ask, "Where is my girl?"
I know sometimes to you I seem harsh and so unfair,
But one day you’ll see, I taught you well because I care.
The next few years will so quickly fly, with laughter and joy, mixed with a few tears to cry.
As you begin your growth to womanhood, this fact you must know,
You will always be my source of pride, no matter where you go.
You must stand up tall and proud, within you feel no fear.
For all your dreams and goals, sit before you very near.
With God’s love in your heart and the world by its tail,
You will always be my winner, and the victory will prevail.
I look at you and do not see the passage of time,
I see my little girl, running through the yard, playing on a swing.
I will try to respect the fact that you are older now, and the decisions that you will make are your own.
But, you must understand...that to me, you will always be my little girl.
I may not be able to carry you in my arms any more. But, I will always carry you in my heart.
There is a bond between a mother and her daughter,
It is so special, like no other.
There is a key between each heart, and a love that nothing can ever part.
A oneness of spirit that no one can see.
It is very special between you and me!
Dedicated to all the mothers…
Do you know how much you mean to me?
As you grow into what will you be?

Broken Angel
by Meher Paracha, 8L
She gets on the school bus every morning
She used to smile all the time
But now all she is, is silent
No one even cares
She looks around to see everyone glaring
She feels guilty somehow
She bows her head down
Feeling inferior to them
She gets on the school bus every morning
She always wears full sleeves
She doesn't have the light in her eyes anymore
She lost it completely
She gets on the school bus every morning
With a fake smile plastered on her face
She thinks no one notices
That she is broken too
She didn't get on the school bus this morning
She has left this precious earth
She left a note saying
'Your broken angel is dead'
